Verizon Set To Sell iPads
Finally, the first official Verizon-Apple relationship to actually pop up. With the iPad being sold nearly everywhere now (including Walmart, Target, Best Buy and more) Apple has decided it’d be prudent to roll out the iPad where people care about mobile life. AT&T and Verizon retail stores will be Selling the iPad by the end of October 2010. Here’s the scoop…
Apple has officially announced that AT&T will be selling the iPad WiFi and the iPad 3G, while Verizon, unsurprisingly, will only be selling the iPad WiFi. But Verizon does intend to upsell the iPad in a package with the Verizon MiFi hot-spot.
It’s smart for both companies, but for Verizon specifically, it gives them their first real taste of Apple exposure. But everyone is jumping to claim that this means a CDMA iPad is coming soon, and/or that all the Verizon iPhone rumors are to be confirmed. To me, this just means Apple is expanding their tablet dominance right before the holiday season.
Basically, anywhere mobile devices are found, the iPad will be along side them. For holiday shoppers, buying up iPads wherever it’s the most convenient will be key, since some Apple stores can be few and far between.
Still, there’s no denying that Apple has now started their relationship with Verizon, and it’ll be interesting to see if this is truly Apple’s way of sending up a trial balloon about future devices. We’ll keep an eye out on how fast iPads get scooped up out of these stores. It’s an interesting development, no doubt.
