Nexmo, BICS Partner for Cloud Communication Services
The companies today announced a partnership that will allow Nexmo to provide customers with upgraded mobile voice quality, connectivity and termination services in regions where BICS operates, including North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Nexmo provides cloud communication application programming interfaces (APIs) that “bridge traditional voice and text services with cloud communications,” while BICS offers wholesale solutions to communication service providers.
The new partnership between these companies, meanwhile, will allow app developers and enterprises “to reach customers and devices anywhere in the world via mobile text-messaging and voice,” Nexmo said.
“With BICS’s many advantages in voice, we are furthering our goal to provide only the best-quality cloud communication services to our customers,” David Vigar, Nexmo’s director of carrier relations, said in a prepared statement.
Nexmo and BICS are targeting revenue growth
Nexmo and BICS appear to be heading in opposite directions, but the new partnership could benefit both companies.
Nexmo has experienced significant growth over the past few months and reported a 141 percent customer growth rate in the first six months of 2014.
This cloud communication API company also has partnered with several telecommunications providers recently, including:
- Telefonica O2
- YTL Communications
BICS, however, watched its revenues fall 6.7 percent in the first quarter of 2014 on a year-over-year basis.
Brian Troesch, BICS’s vice president of sales for the Americas and over-the-top (OTT) services, said he believes the partnership with Nexmo could prove to be mutually beneficial for both companies.
“In today’s complex mobile communications market, it is essential that enterprise customers and cloud providers alike have accessibility to direct, high-quality voice connectivity with global reach. In partnering with Nexmo, we are providing their customers with leading voice connectivity and termination services,” he said.
