Kaseya: Australian Workplaces Lack MDM Policies
Despite the increase of IT managers developing mobile device management (MDM) policies, more than 35 percent of Australian IT managers still have no policies in place to manage their employees’ use of mobile devices, according to a recent Kaseya study. Oddly, 58 percent allow more than 80 percent of their employees to use mobile devices in the workplace for business use.
The 2012 Kaseya Mobile Device Management Survey, which surveyed 214 Australian IT professionals during May 2012, found that over 68 percent of Australians use mobile devices for business use in the workplace. These devices range from mobile phones, tablets, and laptops. Participants revealed that 34 percent enable staff to access the enterprise network via a smartphone device, while 36 percent provide employees with access via tablet solutions.
The survey also revealed the following:
- Over 78 percent of respondents indicated that security remains a key concern
- Data loss and data leakage are major issues considered by 70 percent of IT professionals surveyed
- Only 33 percent conduct daily backups
- Regularly updating security software is a concern for 42 percent of the respondents.
