Good Technology Adds Data Plan to Enterprise Mobility Play

Good Technology announced its new Good Work with Data program, an enterprise mobility offering that enables BYOD users to automatically utilize an enterprise data plan when using their corporate apps rather than dipping into their own data usage plans.
The plan is designed to help enterprises eliminate employee stipend and reimbursement programs and drive greater BYOD initiatives, according to the company.
According to Good, the solution is the first and only data plan on the market that can be embedded seamlessly into corporate apps. Good Work with Data automatically separates business and personal cellular data usage on the same device and establishes policies to pay for approved mobile app use independent of carrier, according to the announcement.
“Only Good has this unique architecture and can enable a hassle-free BYOD solution with true data billing separation—no one else has this today,” said Christy Wyatt, CEO and chairman of Good Technology, in a statement. “This approach allows us to avoid the challenges other MDM vendors face as they expand their offerings, allowing Good to deliver a seamless experience without compromising any of the usability and security requirements our customers expect.”
The solution is the result of Good’s October acquisition of mobile cloud application service provider Macheen. Good said the acquisition would allow it to bolster the company’s ability to provide customers with embedded corporate data plan support across business-required apps.
The company introduced its initial BYOD solution with a corporate data plan in July, which is based on Good’s secure mobile collaboration app and allows users to utilize split billing across the Good Dynamics Secure Mobility Platform.
AT&T (T) also announced that Good Technology is one if its three initial partners in the company’s AT&T Work Platform, which will allow businesses to create separate plans and stipends for enterprise users who are using their personal data in the workplace, according to Good. MobileIron (MOBL) and AirWatch by VMware (VMW) have also signed onto the platform.
Good Work with Data is available now for pilot deployments on iOS and Android devices. Pricing information and supported languages are expected to be announced at the time of general availability.
