Can MAM Solve BYOD Issues for MSPs?
Mobile application management (MAM) is likely to become a more important part of any mobility management solution for managed services providers (MSPs) in this bring your own device (BYOD) world.
Case in point? A new report from Heavy Reading Insider that notes that MAM provides organizations with the ability to allow their employees to use their own devices, while still providing data protection.
Heavy Reading Insider Research Analyst Denise Culver said in her a statement that there is an extraordinary opportunity for MAM to rescue organizations from this storm scenario facing mobile service providers and mobile application vendors.
"Much of the ingredients for this perfect storm can largely be blamed on the influx of mobile devices that now are commonplace in corporations," she said.
The report also concluded that businesses want to use mobility to speed business and transform relationships through internal and external means. These employers, however, want to increase the ability to view all types of analytics from one solution, the report said, something that MAM provides, but MDM does not, Culver said.
"MAM provides employees the protection and privacy of their personal apps and information, while applying a logical approach to app and data security," she said. "While the MAM space still struggles to find clear definition independent of the MDM space, there is little question that the coming months will find MAM vendors seeking partnerships and acquisition deals that enable them to better position their services in markets that have desperate need."
