Each week Talkin’ Cloud compiles a list of must-read telecommunications stories for readers who are looking to stay on top of what’s going on in the fast-moving telecom industry.

Microsoft Files Lawsuit Against Kyocera Over Android Patents
Microsoft has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Kyocera (KYO), alleging that Kyocera’s Duraforce, Hydro and Brigadier phones violate seven Microsoft patents. Microsoft’s complaint alleged that some of the features of Kyocera’s phones infringe patents it holds in several areas, including power management for enhanced battery life, “self-aware” devices that respond to changes in the user’s surroundings and text messaging.
BroadSoft Extends the Reach of Its BroadCloud Managed Service with Voxbone
BroadSoft will leverage cloud communications provider Voxbone to bolster its BroadCloud managed service. The global unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) services provider said using Voxbone’s direct inward dialing (DID) numbers will extend BroadCloud’s reach to more than 55 countries and 8,000 cities.
Level 3 Adds Collaboration Services to Its Cloud Connect Ecosystem
Level 3 has incorporated video conferencing service provider Blue Jeans Network into its Cloud Connect ecosystem. Also, Level 3 said it plans to add other UC&C applications to its Cloud Connect services suite in the near future.
ScanSource Communications To Offer ShoreTel Sky
ScanSource Communications is giving resellers a single source to purchase their ShoreTel (SHOR) communications solutions. The value-added distributor has begun offering ShoreTel Sky, a cloud phone system and UC solution. According to ScanSource, it’s now the only distributor to provide both ShoreTel premises- and cloud-based solutions to resellers.
Worldwide Telecommunications Industry Revenue to Hit $2.4 Trillion in 2020, Says Insight Research
What does the future hold for the telecom industry? Insight Research is predicting that this sector’s revenue will increase over the next few years. The market research firm said it expects telecom services revenue worldwide to rise from $2.2 trillion in 2015 to $2.4 trillion in 2019.
