HTC, which has seen a lot of success in 2012 with some high-end smartphones such as the One X and the Evo 4G LTE, is getting ready to launch what could be the biggest of them all before the year is out.

The Taiwan-based manufacturer, which aims its devices at both the general consumer and the business user, will launch the Droid DNA in early December, well before the end of the holiday shopping season, evleaks said on Twitter. Verizon Wireless is said to be the beneficiary of the new phone.

The Droid DNA is expected to come with a quad-core, 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor; a whopping 2GB of RAM; and a super-sized, five-inch touchscreen. Also look for 16GB of storage and a rear-facing camera that’s 8MP. No specific release date or price yet from the carrier or manufacturer but you can bet that with these specs it’ll be one of the more expensive smartphones out there.

Most estimates have HTC battling it out with Nokia for third place in new smartphone sales behind Samsung and Apple.
