As if BlackBerry needs any more competition, a big challenger has arrived on the Verizon Wireless network.

Starting today, you can pick up a Motorola Droid Pro at Verizon for $179.99 with a two-year contract, a smidge under what most high-end smartphones will cost you. If you dont want to be locked in, itll set you back $479. One of the biggest benefits of the phone will entice business users who travel it supports wireless networks in 220 countries.

The Droid Pro runs on Froyo the latest update to the Android operating system. It also features a full QWERTY keyboard beneath the 3.1-inch touchscreen. Other specs include:

  • 1GHZ processor

  • 5-megapixel camera with flash and autofocus

  • Adobe Flash 10.1 built-in

  • Mobile hotspot capabilities

  • 8GB memory and 8GB microSD card, with support up to 32GB
