AT&T, T-Mobile Slash Prices, Add Data as Battle Continues

AT&T and T-Mobile are slashing prices and increasing data in attempts to lure customers away from each other and the rest of the mobile carriers, as well as retain their existing customer base.

AT&T and T-Mobile are slashing prices and increasing data in attempts to lure customers away from each other and the rest of the mobile carriers, as well as retain their existing customer bases.

AT&T is now offering a 2GB Mobile Share Value Plan that starts at $65 a month, $15 cheaper than the previous 2GB plan for one smartphone, with no annual service contract. The plan includes unlimited domestic talk and text as well as unlimited international messaging to select countries. Some customers can also sign up for 50GB of cloud storage at no additional cost.

“We’re continuing the trend of offering more value to our new and existing customers. Not only are families and small businesses able to save more on their monthly data plans, we’re now delivering that same great value to individual customers on the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network,” AT&T Mobility CMO David Christopher said. “We’re delivering more savings for customers across the board … with AT&T the value keeps getting better.”

Meanwhile, T-Mobile is offering all Simple Choice plan subscribers more 4G LTE data, tethering and unlimited international texting at no extra charge. On the $50 Simple Choice plan, customers now get 1GB of data, double the 500MB previously offered,  and on the $60 plan, they get 3GB. However, the unlimited voice, text and data plan has increased to $80. In its previous spot at $70 is a new 5GB plan.

“In a couple weeks, every single one of our millions of Simple Choice customers will wake up with more value without lifting a finger,” said T-Mobile CMO Mike Sievert. “Who does that? We do. Because that’s what being the Un-carrier means – giving more to you without asking more from you. I’d love to see our competitors try to follow suit.”

AT&T announced at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo last month that it’s investing $300 million in solutions providers, while T-Mobile announced the debut of its partner program.
