MDM Provider AirWatch Partners with Dimension Data

Global information technology communications solutions and services provider Dimension Data announced this morning its partnership with mobile device management provider AirWatch. Dimension Data will use AirWatch’s MDM application programming interfaces (APIs) to integrate with its Enterprise Mobility Framework, a framework that provides a blueprint for building an enterprise mobility strategy and telecom expense management solution. Here are the details.

The Enterprise Mobility Framework focuses on adaptive security, operational excellence and applications. Dimension Data has made the solution globally available and clients in South Africa and Europe are using it . Clients are using the solution to manage corporate and employee-owned mobile devices, protect corporate data, distribute enterprise applications and secure mobile access to corporate documents.

Dimension Data’s Group General Manager for Security Solutions Matthew Gyde offered his analysis on the company's Enterprise Mobility Framework in a statement: "Dimension Data’s Enterprise Mobility Framework offers a 360-degree view of all the considerations for; and areas affected by the move to mobility. Security remains one of the most critical considerations and, if not effectively managed, creates the biggest area of corporate risk." Gyde praised AirWatch's technology platform as a main reason for the partnership.

AirWatch President and CEO John Marshall commended the partnership for offering a solution that provides clients with end-to-end mobility services around the world. "We recognized Dimension Data is a significant provider of security services to the market today," Marshall said. "This, combined with their focus on providing clients with end-to-end mobility services around the world, makes the partnership a natural fit. Our ability to jointly address the needs of our respective clients represents a major opportunity for us."

AirWatch announced last Wednesday a standalone mobile application management solution designed to increase administrative flexibility. The company also had a patent infringement lawsuit filed against it by Good Technology late last year.
