BoxTone Launches Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Support

reed.jpgEnterprise mobility management (EMM) software provider BoxTone is extending its solution to provide more comprehensive support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync environments.  BoxTone for Exchange ActiveSync will offer real-time service monitoring, proactive alerting and support diagnostics for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync-connected mobile devices, the company said. Here's a closer look at the new capabilities and also why this support is so important in today's IT environments.

First, here's a look at the current state of Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync use. BoxTone says that the software, which syncs corporate email to mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, is the most widely-used mobile messaging platform today. Gartner estimates that more than half of the installed base of Microsoft Exchange Servers rely on IT to deliver email to mobile devices.

The following is a deeper dive into the MDM capabilities of BoxTone for Exchange ActiveSync solution:

  • real-time performance monitoring -- monitors mobile connections and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync synchronizations with performance baselines, analytics and alerting of emerging issues to prevent downtime failures that impact users and the business, such as proactive detection and alerts for mailbox throttling or dropped connections building up in the environment;
  • dashboards, consoles and reports for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync operations teams -- retrieve status across all mobile devices, carriers, Client Access and Mailbox Servers and network infrastructure for real-time visibility and control essential to meeting service level agreements (SLAs), such as showing real-time connection status for all data flows between devices, CAS and Mailbox Servers;
  • consoles for service desk teams -- leverage automated diagnostics, embedded knowledgebase, and "click-to-fix" actions in order to shorten mean time to repair and enable existing teams to support mobile users without adding head count for lower mobile support costs, such as instantly identifying issues where a mailbox server is throttling for a specific user's device or for re-setting the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync device pairing.
"Mobile email is absolutely mission-critical for organizations and the productivity of employees hinges upon the quality of the ActiveSync service," said BoxTone Chief Product Officer Brian Reed (pictured) in a prepared statement. "Every enterprise that depends on mobile messaging as a tier 1 service will need to proactively monitor and support ActiveSync-connected mobile devices as part of their mobility management strategy."

The BoxTone platform supports Google Android, iPhone and iPad, BlackBerry and Windows Phone as well as all connection methods, including Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Good and BlackBerry BES.
