Unitrends on Thursday said it has acquired Yuruware, an Australia-based cloud services provider (CSP) that specializes in disaster recovery and migration tools for Amazon Web Services (AWS), OpenStack and other public clouds. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Coming on the heels of the virtual, physical, and cloud-based protection and recovery solutions provider’s recent software upgrade, Unitrends, backed by Insight Venture Partners, plans to leverage Yuruware’s technology to extend its backup and disaster recovery (BDR) offerings to third-party public clouds, including AWS, OpenStack and Microsoft (MSFT) Azure.

Unitrends Product Management and Marketing Vice President Subo Guha told Talkin’ Cloud that the company’s “acquisition of Yuruware result in several new products in the coming year.”

“Yuruware’s technology is unique in the industry, as it’s able to transform networking needs across diverse and geographically disparate cloud locations,” he said.

Guha added: “So, customers now have the ability to easily perform disaster recovery from on-premise to public clouds like Amazon and OpenStack.”

Unitrends’ acquisition of Yuruware will not have an “immediate impact on our channel partners,” he said.

Guha said Yuruware offered “the only viable technology that we saw addressing the very critical need of network transformation.

“For customers with data across various geographies, being able to seamlessly manage complex networking needs in various public clouds or between clouds is a very complex task,” he said. “Yuruware brings a very innovative and unique approach to network transformation needs across disparate public clouds.”
