Nuvias Group, the U.K.-based distributor, is buying another British value-added distributor and beefing up its cloud services portfolio.

Acquiring Cloud Distribution gives Nuvias and its VARs access to more emerging, cloud-focused technologies. Cloud Distribution partners with cybersecurity providers like Ava and Vectra, networking providers such as Extreme Networks and Peplink, and data protection providers like Acronis. A cursory look at both companies’ vendor lists shows that both companies are filling in gaps. For example, Nuvias partnered with Juniper Networks, and Cloud Distribution didn’t, and the reverse goes for Acronis and Extreme Networks.

Nuvias executives praised Cloud Distribution’s “highly specialised business” and “highly skilled staff.”

“Our philosophy and values are a perfect fit, as we share the same focus on partner growth and exceptional customer service,” Nuvias CEO Simon England said. “Nuvias gains a focused early engagement specialist, extending the group’s ability to operate earlier in the technology life cycle driving opportunities with emerging and new technology providers.”

The companies did not disclose financial terms of the agreement.

Background

Cloud Distribution CEO Greg Harris co-founded the company back in 2009. The value-added distributor initially attacked the networking space but expanded to include cybersecurity. The company has won EMEA distributor of the year from Blackberry and Acronis’ best EMEA cloud distributor.

Harris called Nuvias “a significant acceleration platform” for his company.

“Our strengths and competencies complement each other well, allowing us to address both emerging and mature market players and intercept the opportunity offered by important IT trends, such as XaaS and the move to the cloud, accelerated by the mass remote working practices.”

Nuvias earlier this year added 15 former ScanSource Europe employees to its unified communications unit. UC Today reported that Nuvias unsuccessfully attempted to buy ScanSource Europe.

Nuvias recently won Juniper Networks’ 2020 EMEA Distributor of the Year.
