Metalogix today announced it has acquired MetaVis Technologies, an Exton, Pennsylvania-based company that offers a unified cloud collaboration service management platform. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Steven Murphy, Metalogix’s CEO, said the MetaVis Technologies addition supports his company’s mission to provide “best-of-breed solutions to the marketplace.”

“We will continue delivering the most innovative and simple-to-use solutions that address the dynamic challenges associated with moving, managing and securing content; in the cloud, and in hybrid environments,” he said in a prepared statement.

So what does the transaction mean for Metalogix, MetaVis Technologies and both companies’ respective customers? Metalogix now supports more than 20,000 licensed customers, and a Metalogix spokesperson told Talkin’ Cloud that the acquisition gives the company “MetaVis products … [and] also the expertise of the teams that created and support them.”

In addition, the acquisition accelerates Metalogix’s cloud platform growth strategy, the spokesperson said, and solidifies the company “as the de facto leading provider for moving, managing and securing content in the cloud.”

Metalogix could explore future cloud collaboration market acquisitions as well; the spokesperson said Metalogix is always searching for businesses “that are moving faster than others in the cloud collaboration market.”

Businesses can use Metalogix management solutions for Microsoft (MSFT) Exchange, Office 365 and SharePoint to monitor, migrate and manage their collaboration platforms.

Murphy added that Metalogix has a product release scheduled next month, and his company continues to search for ways to help businesses use its management solutions to increase workplace productivity.
