Kaseya Boosts Security Capabilities with Acquisition of Graphus’ Phishing Defense

This acquisition advances Kaseya’s IT infrastructure and security management solutions for MSPs and SMBs.

Kaseya this week announced its acquisition and integration of Graphus, a phishing defense platform. The move expands the cloud email security capabilities of Kaseya’s IT Complete suite of IT infrastructure and security management solutions.  

This comes at a time when workforces are nearly 100% remote and cloud email adoption is at an all-time high. Businesses have an even greater need for strong cybersecurity defenses to avoid devastating data breaches and financial consequences. With this acquisition, IT Complete now includes a simple, automated, powerful and cost effective email security and phishing defense platform, Kaseya said.

“Phishing attacks have been on the rise for some time now. They are even more of a risk with us all working remotely these days,” said Fred Voccola, Kaseya CEO. “We’re an Office 365 shop at Kaseya. We had been using O365’s Advanced Threat Protection to protect against phishing, but found that a lot was still getting through.”

Kaseya’s first introduction to Graphus was nearly a year ago as a customer to protect the company’s own internal systems. 

“The partnership didn’t begin with the intention of acquiring Graphus; however, once we saw firsthand how the solution was able to protect our company’s nearly 90 petabytes of cloud data, we started toying with the idea. It’s a simple-to-use, comprehensive solution that works way better than a lot of the similar tools we’d looked at. So, adding it to our IT Complete suite of best-in-class tools was a natural next step,” said Voccola.

The Impact for Kaseya

Kaseya has already integrated Graphus with its ID Agent digital risk protection platform. This includes Dark Web ID, BullPhish ID and Passly. According to Voccola, this offers customers another level of protection, especially during a time of such uncertainty and heightened cyber risk.

“This year offers some big opportunities for remote security solutions, so we’re still looking to do a couple more exciting acquisitions later this year into next. Being a private company gives us the agility to make these kinds of moves much more easily than if we were public now,” said Voccola.

Connect IT 2020

Scooping up a phishing defense platform wasn’t the only thing Kaseya’s been up to this week. The IT management solutions provider is also hosting its premier virtual event, Connect IT 2020.

Here are some of the big announcements and innovations that have come out of Connect IT; plus, a few things that Kaseya has in the works for H2 of this year:

  • New Workflow Integrations — The enhanced Kaseya Fusion mobile app streamlines Kaseya VSA, Kaseya BMS and IT Glue to help minimize the time IT teams spend swapping between disjointed applications for their daily ticketing, endpoint management, IT automation and IT documentation responsibilities.
  • ID Agent’s Password Manager, Passly, Adds Browser Extension — This new browser extension eliminates the need to first access the Passly web interface. Simply log in to the browser extension using existing policies to securely access applications and credentials. Same Passly protection, faster access. 
  • Spanning Cloud Apps O365 Adds Backup for Microsoft OneNote — This update allows customers to back up and recover OneNote data from Office 365. MSPs can offer OneNote backup services. At the same time, SMBs can protect even more of their important O365 data. Both are crucial to today’s remote work environment, Kaseya said.

“At Connect IT, we released our latest round of killer features and integrations,” said Voccola. “I’m talking about 11 new workflow integrations and product enhancements to the Kaseya IT Complete platform. These will help IT teams juggle their countless responsibilities and collaborate from home with ease. These integrations and enhancements are sure to help MSPs boost their bottom line. At the same time, we’ll help them increase efficiencies so their technicians can do more with less.”

The virtual conference concludes Thursday.
