Europe’s biggest privately owned IT services firm SCC has acquired £100 million turnover U.K. IT reseller Vohkus. SCC isn’t saying how much it shelled out for the company.

SCC said the acquisition is an opportunity to scale its presence in the country. Forty-six-year old SCC has 5500+ employees across 65 locations in the U.K., France, Romania, Spain, and Vietnam. It is the fifth-largest reseller in the U.K.

Fareham, Hampshire-based Vohkus has 160 employees serving customers across the U.K. since 2001. Its credentials include strategic export licenses, government accreditation supporting national procurement frameworks for the public sector.

Vohkus co-founder Ritchie Sharma will retire from the company. His co-founder, Frank O’Leary, alongside Lance Forster, Ian Hounsome, and Graham Gaut, will lead the business day to day.

Shared Culture

Like SCC, Vohkus has a strong partner ecosystem, long-serving staff, and enduring customer relationships, said the firm.

“Vohkus prides itself on creating long-term trusted relationships with its people and its customers,” said SCC CEO James Rigby. “It was apparent from our first conversation that Vohkus shares our strong entrepreneurial culture, with exceptional customer experiences at the heart of everything it does. The long tenure of Vohkus’ people and the talent it has within its growing services business will add tremendous value to SCC. In return, we can help scale Vohkus as part of the SCC family.”

O’Leary described the move as “a pivotal moment for Vohkus. It represents significant opportunity to strengthen our product business further while significantly expanding our services offerings. This will be to the great benefit of our customers, many of which are currently undergoing major IT transformations. It is also a terrific opportunity for our team to be part of a large ecosystem, delivering even more business value to customers.”

The acquisition follows a £300 million technology investment program to underpin SCC’s growth. With it, SCC is targeting “significant purchases in a multiyear strategy aimed at consolidating the company’s position as Europe’s largest private investor in technology.”

Last month, SCC acquired Civica’s Licensing and Cloud Software Lifecycle (LCSL) team to accelerate the growth of its UK software services.
