Iomart CEO Angus MacSween says the company acquired Backup Technology Limited (BTL) for the company's success in BDR.

UK-based cloud computing company Iomart acquired backup and disaster recovery (BDR) solutions provider Backup Technology Limited (BTL) for £23 million (approximately $37 million).

Iomart gains about 200 BDR enterprise clients with the deal.

Iomart CEO Angus MacSween says the company acquired BTL its "ground breaking progress in the delivery of cloud backup and disaster recovery."

Cloud backup provider Asigra, a long-term partner with BTL, applauded the recent acquisition, showing eagerness to work with Iomart.

"As longstanding partners our relationship with BTL has been built on mutual respect and a similar vision to bring advanced data protection services to organizations worldwide," Asigra founder and CEO David Farajun said in his prepared statement.

Iomart offers cloud computing under various brands, including Melbourne Hosting, Iomart Hosting, Iomart Cloud and Easyspace.
