Forcepoint is acquiring U.K.-based Deep Secure to expand its portfolio for securing governments and critical infrastructure organizations.

Deep Secure’s cybersecurity products and services protect organizations from cyberattacks delivered via malware. In addition, they help prevent unwanted data loss.

The acquisition will allow Forcepoint to extend the capabilities of its Cross Domain Solutions portfolio to secure the critical data of governments in the United States and beyond. Cross Domain enables secure sharing and access to data between security levels across government and critical infrastructure.

Forcepoint expects to close the acquisition in August. Then, Forcepoint plans to integrate Deep Secure’s team and technology into its global governments and critical infrastructure business unit (G2CI).

“The addition of Deep Secure‘s innovative threat removal platform and hardware security to our Cross Domain portfolio further extends the depth of our defense-grade capabilities to governments and critical infrastructure organizations around the world, who continue to be under siege from nation-state and other attackers looking for financial gain or to ultimately disrupt societies and economies at scale,” he said.

Deep Secure addresses a substantial problem for organizations, Forcepoint said. That’s the safe exchange of information with trusted and untrusted sources. Deep Secure’s threat removal platform takes a zero-trust approach to data. It assumes all of the original data is infected and prohibits that data from reaching its destination. Instead, it extracts information from the original data and verifies it as safe using hardware-based verification. It then builds new data to carry the information safely to its destination. It eradicates malicious or unrecognized data hidden in the document.

Eliminating Malware and Ransomware

“In 2021, it is reported that ransomware attacks against organizations will occur every 11 seconds,” Berg said. “Together, with our shared focus on data-first cybersecurity with a zero-trust approach, Forcepoint’s future integration of Deep Secure’s threat removal platform will help governments, critical infrastructure and enterprises globally eliminate the increasing threat of malware and ransomware.”

The threat removal platform eliminates the threat from a number of the most common attack vectors, Forcepoint said. Those include email and web downloads
