Datto has acquired Infocyte, the threat detection and response provider. Datto says the deal gives improves its security position to thwart cyberthreats found within endpoints and cloud environments.

Austin-based Infocyte touts itself as an innovator in endpoint detection and response (EDR) technologies and managed detection and response (MDR) services. The company was founded by threat intelligence experts from cybersecurity institutions within the U.S. military. The company’s patented technologies collect and correlate data from endpoints to identify potential threats.

Infocyte hosts a security operations center with analysts that can respond to threats in real time.

“Datto has always focused on enabling its MSP partners to secure the digital assets – both applications and data – of their small and medium business (SMB) clients. The addition of the Infocyte team and technologies augments our capabilities within the critical protect, detect and respond stages outlined in the NIST organizational security framework,” Weller said. “Infocyte’s offerings are complementary to Datto RMM ransomware detection and SaaS defense application security products in those same NIST stages.”

Datto will integrate Infocyte’s technology into its RMM platform. This will further secure endpoints and fortify key the first line of defense for MSPs, Weller said. Datto continues to make security a top investment focus since MSPs “are squarely in the security business.”
