Check Point Software Technologies is acquiring Spectral, an Israeli developer security startup, to extend its CloudGuard cloud security solution.

Check Point will integrate Spectral tools into its Infinity security platform as part of its CloudGuard offering. The security provider isn’t saying how much it’s paying for Spectral, but the deal should close soon.

Spectral’s security tools support a wide range of automated code security use cases, including infrastructure as code scanning; code-tampering prevention; hardcoded secrets detection; source controls  and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) security; and source code leakage detection.

“This new acquisition certainly provides Check Point partners with new opportunities as we aim to secure the cloud and do away with misconfiguration issues through Spectral’s technology,” he said. “The acquisition will enable partners to cross-sell and upsell to existing customers and acquire new [customers].”

Spectral is an innovator in automated code security, with tools designed by developers for developers, Rauch said. Partners can sell Check Point’s CloudGuard solution with developer-first security and “provide the industry’s most comprehensive platform from code to cloud.”

“Partners can feel confident selling Check Point Infinity, the industry’s sole consolidated platform, for cloud, network, user, and now code security,” he said. “No need to integrate other vendors as Spectral’s solutions deploy in less than five minutes, and code scanning delivers comprehensive and accurate results within seconds, creating best-in-class time to value for their customers.”

‘Very Synergistic’ to Check Point’s Channel Strategy

The Spectral acquisition is “very synergistic” to Check Point’s channel strategy, Rauch said. Check Point rewards partners for selling new solutions to existing and new customers. Spectral also complements Check Point’s already strong alliance programs with cloud providers and its partner community.

Dotan Nahum is Spectral’s CEO and co-founder.

“Spectral’s undertaking is to enable developers to build and ship software without worry,” he said. “By joining Check Point, we will be able to help more developers, across more regions, and build our community and open source offering faster and more effectively.
