U.K.-based Calligo has completed its third acquisition in Ireland this year with Cinnte Technologies. Cinnte is an MSP specializing in managed IT, cloud and security services.

Calligo ranks No. 18 on the Channel Futures 2020 MSP 501 and was a finalist for MSP of the Year in 2019. The acquisition follows its January purchases of DC Networks, and Itomic Voice and Data.

This acquisition reinforces Calligo as one of Ireland’s largest MSPs in terms of resources, market share, and service and capability.

An Ideal Fit

Calligo’s Julian Box

Julian Box is Calligo‘s founder and CEO. He said the two companies haven’t been competitors, though they’re active in the same regions.

“We actually believe there is great synergy between Calligo and Cinnte Technologies,” he said. “We were interested in Cinnte Technologies because of the degree of similarity in services and partners, and, most importantly, in its approach. At Calligo, we aim to help businesses use their data fully, but also safely. This sets us apart from most MSPs that simply maintain technology. Cinnte Technologies is very strong in IT security services which, alongside data privacy adherence and regulatory compliance, is a crucial component part of overall data safety. This makes its skill sets immediately highly useful to us and valuable to our customers — both locally and globally.”

Cinnte Technologies has an “excellent track record” in client service and retention, Box said.

Calligo’s managed data services improve organizations’ productivity and profitability by making their data more available, secure and safe.

These services include privacy- and security-centric IT managed services; a public cloud platform incorporated with privacy; data privacy adherence services; and enterprise-level machine learning services and tools.

Similar Core Services

Cinnte Technologies’ core services of managed IT, cloud and Microsoft 365 mirror Calligo’s own. In particular, its advanced capabilities in IT security align with Calligo’s specialty in ensuring the continuous safety of customers’ data.

“Our strategy has been to use carefully chosen acquisitions to gain quick footholds in new territories,” Box said. “We choose these territories based on the usual indicators of commercial opportunity, of course, but also on their data privacy and governance landscape. The more stringent data privacy legislation is or is likely to become, the more successful we tend to be. From those initial acquisitions, we then focus on growing organically, bolstered by occasional opportunistic acquisitions.”

Calligo’s organic growth has continued through the COVID-19 pandemic, Box said.

“The situation has highlighted how essential immediate, reliable, secure and compliant access to data is for businesses to be more productive and responsive from any location,” he said. “Businesses recognize that the key to survival or seizing opportunities in this climate lies in their data. So they are actively seeking ways to be more insightful and more intelligent with their data use. This puts us in a great position. The addition of Cinnte’s skill sets and experience in data services will, therefore, be of huge value to us and our customers.”

Danny Barr is Cinnte Technologies’ managing director and founder.

“We have always differentiated successfully in the local market on our service and our IT security capabilities,” he said. “With this acquisition, we can now contribute to a highly regarded global service team, serving an international customer base with a wider, data-centric service portfolio.”

Cinnte Technologies’ team now can have a “far greater impact,” Barr said. Furthermore, it gives clients access to data services the company couldn’t offer.

“It is a big, positive step forward for everyone involved,” he said.
