American Virtual Cloud Technologies  plans to sell its Computex Technology Group to the Calian Group. This will complete AVCtechnologies’ transition to a pure-play cloud communications and collaboration company, centered on its Kandy platform.

AVCtechnologies acquired Computex nearly two years ago.

AVCtechnologies expects the proceeds of the sale will eliminate its debt. Also, the proceeds will help create long-term value for shareholders, the company said.

“We have been pleased with the growth of Computex’s VAR and managed services businesses since acquiring the business in 2020,” Mays said. “However, with our newly dedicated focus on our core Kandy cloud communications and collaboration technologies, we decided to divest Computex. We believe the business will continue to thrive under Calian’s ownership.”

AVCtechnologies also recently announced that Michael Tessler joined its board as chairman. Tessler is the founder and former CEO of Broadsoft, the unified-communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) platform giant. Cisco bought Broadsoft in 2018 for $1.9 billion.

Growth Projections

Acquired in December 2020, AVCtechnologies’ Kandy platform is one of the largest pure-play providers of UCaaS, contact center as a service (CCaaS), communications platform as a service (CPaaS) and disaster recovery as a service (DRaaS). It has consistently generated above-market revenue growth rates, the company said. AVCtechnologies previously announced projected revenues of its Kandy business unit, from $14.3 million in 2020 to $18.8 million in 2021. By the end of this year, growth will stand at $37 million it said.. A 505% year-over-year jump in subscribers in the past two years is driving the growth the company is projecting.
