BCN Telecom Inc. is buying certain assets of fellow network services reseller AMI Communications Inc.

BCN said on Thursday it will acquire AMI’s telecom services customer base, allowing New Jersey-based BCN to expand its presence in the Midwest. Financial details were not disclosed, as both companies are privately held. The deal remains subject to regulatory approvals.

In terms of structure, BCN is keeping AMI’s people and facilities, including the Chicago area office.

“We were able to create a structure that will benefit our customers and allow AMI to continue its growth in telecom services,” said Bob Buchta, president of AMI. “Our new relationship with BCN will enable the AMI team to continue as the primary contact point for AMI customers and we will remain actively involved in developing, servicing and supporting new, as well as existing, customer relationships.”

Meantime, AMI will keep its managed IT services business, which serves SMBs and enterprises, as a standalone unit.

BCN and AMI both sell through channel partners. The providers offer voice, data, cloud and wireless services.
