Seven Managed Services Blogs MSPmentor Didn't Write: June 11

At least one major software company -- a big one -- is set to make managed services moves during the week of June 14. But I'm getting a bit ahead of myself: Here are seven managed services blog entries that MSPmentor didn't find time to write for the week ending June 11, 2010.

7. You Want Fries With That?: In a recent blog post, N-able CEO Gavin Garbutt says he sees growing demand for à la carte Managed Services. I'm not sure I agree, because a lot of readers tell me they are offering their customers fewer choices in order to simplify buying decisions. Still, Garbutt knows his partner base, so maybe there is something to this a la carte trend.

6. Growing Installed Base: LabTech Software's installed base of agents has more than tripled since February 2010 -- the month ConnectWise Capital announced plans to invest in LabTech, according to LabTech CEO Matt Nachtrab. Of course, I need to add proper perspective: Perhaps LabTech had a small installed base before the funding arrived? Either way, I expect another LabTech move the week of June 14.

5. Candidates Wanted: Spam Soap is hiring. Director of Channel Sales Leonard Dimiceli says Spam Soap is seeking an Account Manager, Partner Recruiter, a Support Manager and a Tech Support Rep. Interested candidates can send email to Info [at] Spamsoap.com. Also, check the MSPmentor Job Board (www.MSPmentor.net/jobs) for additional MSP-centric career opportunities.

4. Next Moves Soon: NetEnrich, the back-end NOC for Ingram Micro Seismic, apparently is planning a few surprises later this year. My best guess: The efforts will involve Simply Continuous, a backup and disaster recovery services specialist that NetEnrich acquired in early 2010.

3. Getting Started: Sure, Autotask and ConnectWise already run successful partner and customer conferences. But Tigerpaw Software seems to be attracting strategic sponsors for its first conference.

2. See You There?: I just booked travel to Microsoft's Worldwide Partner Conference (July 11-15, Washington, D.C.). If you're attending and want to potentially meet please email me (joe [at] NineLivesMediaInc.com).

1. Managed Services Pricing: A Top 5 software company is expected to introduce managed services pricing options for VARs next week. We expect to share details from the software company's channel chief. It's part of a growing trend among storage and security software companies.

That's all for now. Thanks for reading and for interacting on MSPmentor. Our team appreciates -- and enjoys -- the dialog.
