Level Platforms Hosts Regional MSP Events Instead of Big Bash

Why throw one big party when you can host multiple, regional gatherings? That's the thought process at Level Platforms, the MSP software provider that is planning another road show series rather than hosting a big, annual partner bash. Here's a quick update from Level Platforms CEO Peter Sandiford.

First, a little background: Some of the best-known MSP-centric conferences are now hosted by software companies. The list includes Autotask Community Live, ConnectWise IT Nation (formerly ConnectWise Partner Summit), Ingram Micro Seismic Partner Conference, Kaseya Connect, and N-able Partner Summit. Tigerpaw Software also is planning its first user conference.

Meanwhile, Level Platforms says it's taking a different approach to community building. The company recently partnered up with HP and Intel to host a multi-city road show ("Managed Services Renovation Series 2010"), which attracted more than 400 MSPs, Sandiford says.

"We had considered holding a large central conference but our Partners told us they wanted more direct time with us and other partners on real issues rather than listening to hired inspirational speakers, so we opted for a series of low-key all-business mini events," Sandiford adds.

Of course, Level Platforms has plenty of competition out on the road. Zenith Infotech, for one, launched a road show this week to promote its SmartStyle cloud initiative. And most of the well-known MSP software companies are hosting road shows across North America, Europe and Australia these days. And I'm hearing from MSPs in South Africa who want similar attention (stay tuned...).

If you're hosting a road show that I failed to mention please avoid the temptation to flame me. We try our best to shine a broad spotlight on the industry, so just send me a heads up. We try to attend as many MSP-centric conferences as possible -- time and schedule permitting.
