Oracle Exec Goes Google Enterprise
Now here’s a sure sign that Google is serious about the enterprise market: The search giant has recruited 20-year Oracle veteran Amit Singh to become VP of International Sales at Google. Singh’s mission: Bolster Google Apps in the enterprise.
While at Oracle, Singh garnered experience in everything from channel management to product development to strategy and acquisitions. Most recently, he was part of a team responsible for running Oracle’s applications business.
In theory, that makes him an an ideal fit for his new job with the search giant: Google, which recently launched their own application marketplace, is looking to bring international companies into the fold, and it’ll be Singh’s job to sell them on the Google Apps vision.
All Things Digital’s Kara Swisher was able to land an interview with Singh on the eve of the announcement. The highlight:
“‘Everyone has a vision of business transformation and Google is at the forefront of that,’ said Singh, who noted the cultural differences between his old job at Oracle and new one. ‘It will be an incredible change for me.’”
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
