Intronis Seeking Channel Chief?
Changes are afoot at Intronis, the online backup company. Sources say VP of sales and marketing Eric Webster — essentially, the company’s channel chief — is leaving to join another high-tech company. Here are the preliminary details as only The VAR Guy can deliver them.
First, let The VAR Guy set the scene: Sources say Intronis remains firmly committed to solutions providers and managed services providers (MSPs). And the company’s white label online backup program for the channel continues to grow rapidly.
But sources close to the company say Webster has resigned and may surface at another high-tech company in May 2010. Speculation about Webster’s status with Intronis popped up at the Autotask Community Live conference in Miami, because neither Webster nor Intronis made a scheduled appearance at the conference.
The VAR Guy reached out to Intronis and Webster for comment, but our resident blogger hasn’t heard from the company nor Webster.
Still, numerous sources close to Intronis say the company continues to push forward with its channel strategy. Translation: One executive’s departure should not be over-analyzed by the media. For now, that’s all The VAR Guy has to say about that — unless he hears more from Intronis in the days ahead.

Just got off the phone with Joe. To re-iterate our conversation, Intronis remains strongly committed to the channel and to our partners. We have had great success providing online backup and recovery to both VARs and MSPs, and we will continue our rapid growth in this sector. Our channel strategy persists, and we look forward to welcoming many more partners during this quarter and beyond.
Eric played an important role in Intronis’ growth and success. He is pursuing an opportunity in a different industry, and we wish him the very best in this new endeavor.
I look forward to becoming more involved in the MSP community as we move forward.
Best regards,
Sam Gutmann
