While the U.S. IT industry added more than 21,000 jobs in the fourth quarter of 2012 overall, that did not mean that every enterprise added jobs. Some employers reduced their workforces to more closely align with their business goals. For instance, Nokia reduced its global IT organization by up to 300 employees, affecting mostly employees based in Finland. These reductions are part of Nokia's focused strategy announcement from June 2012, which outlines a range of planned actions to sharpen its strategy, improve its operating model, and return the company to profitable growth.
But that doesn't mean there aren't excellent career opportunities available.
