Google has named Bertrand Yansouni as its new Vice President Global Partner Sales and Strategic Alliances for Google Cloud to lead its push for hyperscale market share through the channel, according to several reports and as confirmed in his LinkedIn profile.

Yansouni previously ran Cloudera’s partner program for four years, and also was director of channel sales at VMware over a decade ago, while current Google Cloud Executive Vice President Diane Greene was VMware CEO.

Bertrand YansouniAfter joining Google in November, Yansouni recently took over the platform channel for Murali Sitaram, who shifts his focus to Google for Work. Yansouni served as VP of Worldwide Field Operations for Delphix prior to joining Cloudera.

Greene has been leading Google Cloud’s charge into the enterprise market, where AWS and Microsoft Azure are firmly entrenched as the biggest and second-biggest providers. That charge has included additional data center and infrastructure investments, and Greene mentioned an intention to hire “very aggressively” in June. It has also included signing up AWS customer Apple in March 2016.

Google Cloud Platform, G Suite, and other Google services were rolled together to form the “Google Cloud” brand in a September announcement by Greene.

New York Times deputy tech editor Quentin Hardy announced Monday via Twitter that he is leaving the publication to take what Google confirmed to recode is a new role with Google Cloud.
