Dan Shapero Exits Kaseya, Launching ClikCloud MSP Marketing?

ClikCloud

Dan Shapero, formerly executive VP and GM of Kaseya’s On Demand division, left Kaseya in August. Next up, Shapero appears to be involved in ClikCloud, a digital marketing company that will offer search engine optimized websites to managed services providers (MSPs). Translation: Shapero and ClikCloud are trying to address one of the most glaring weak points in the managed services industry: Marketing to SMB customers.

Note: I have not personally confirmed Shapero’s participation in ClikCloud. I’ve reached out to ClikCloud for comment. Meanwhile, Shapero’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he left Kaseya in August 2011. And ClikCloud’s Facebook page indicates that Shapero is the owner. Three separate sources now say Shapero is involved in ClikCloud. Stuart Selbst, a business coach in the MSP market, went on-record confirming Shapero’s involvement in ClikCloud.

Shapero is widely known for helping Kaseya to gain critical mass in the managed services software market. More recently, Shapero helped Kaseya to extend its on-premise IT automation software into the cloud computing and SaaS markets. I’ve reached out to Kaseya to see if Shapero’s position will be filled. But as I’ve previously noted, Kaseya has one of the deepest management benches in the MSP software industry, with folks like Chad Gniffke (among others) deeply involved in Kaseya’s cloud strategy.

What is ClikCloud?

So what is Shapero up to at ClikCloud? According to the company’s FaceBook page, ClickCloud “provides managed service providers with turnkey digital marketing options on a fixed fee monthly description.” The company’s mission is to “help MSPs grow their businesses through Digital Marketing.”

ClikCloud’s web site mentions an MSP pilot program that will allow MSPs to get “a complete, professional, search engine optimized website for Managed Services.”

Assuming MSPmentor connects with Shapero, we’ll be sure to ask what makes ClikCloud unique. Several companies and organizations — such as Kutenda and MSP University –offer web site marketing, site design and SEO services to MSPs.

We’ll be watching to see how Shapero and ClikCloud execute on their own strategy.
