CharTec Seeks HaaS Experts for Company Expansion

Apparently, the hardware as a service (HaaS) market continues to treat CharTec well. A case in point: CharTec is seeking to hire 20 to 30 people to help promote HaaS to more VARs and MSPs. Here are some details.

CharTec is gearing up to roughly double its business size, according to Marketing Director Monique Rogers. The planned expansion apparently includes:

  • Adding 10,000 square feet of office space to the company's headquarters in Bakersfield, Calif.; and

Apparently, the hardware as a service (HaaS) market continues to treat CharTec well. A case in point: CharTec is seeking to hire 20 to 30 people to help promote HaaS to more VARs and MSPs. Here are some details.

CharTec is gearing up to roughly double its business size, according to Marketing Director Monique Rogers. The planned expansion apparently includes:

  • Adding 10,000 square feet of office space to the company’s headquarters in Bakersfield, Calif.; and
  • potentially hiring 20 to 30 people, including Level 1, 2 and 3 support technicians; help desk staff; marketing professionals; training experts; sales professionals; admins; R&D experts and a Chief Technology Officer.

CharTec’s expansion plans arrive roughly two months after ConnectWise Capital disclosed plans to invest in CharTec. ConnectWise Capital, launched by the PSA (professional services automation) software provider ConnectWise, seeks to incubate channel-friendly technology companies.

Meanwhile, other investors are showing interest in HaaS. A prime example: XnE Inc. acquired majority control of MSP On Demand (a HaaS specialist) in March 2010.

No doubt, Hardware as a Service (HaaS) is gaining strong interest from solutions providers and MSPs that want to provide total technology solutions without requiring customers to pay upfront for notebooks, desktops and servers. Roughly 46 percent of MSPmentor 100 survey participants say they are formulating HaaS strategies.

Still, plenty of MSPs remain confused about HaaS opportunities. In particular, some MSPs want to know how HaaS programs differ from traditional hardware leasing agreements. Other MSPs are seeking to clarify “who holds the risk” if end-customers go out of business and are unable to pay for equipment within a HaaS contract.
