Avi Networks, which markets itself as “the cloud application delivery company,” is taking its existing technology to create the Cloud Application Delivery Platform (CADP). Based on Avi’s Hyperscale Distributed Resources Architecture (HYDRA) technology, CADP was designed to provide enterprises with the “benefits of the hyperscale approach to application delivery.”

According to Avi, the CADP product fits into the growing $4 billion ADC and networking monitoring markets, both of which the company noted are going through major transitions. The vendor noted that as applications move to cloud-based infrastructure and mobile devices become the dominant endpoint, it’s increasingly difficult to guarantee the end-user application experience.

“In today’s mobile cloud era, the traditional appliance-centric, monolithic application delivery approach doesn’t work any more,” said Umesh Mahajan, founder and CEO of Avi Networks, in a prepared statement. “Inspired by the proven architectural approach pioneered by hyperscale cloud service providers, we developed the Avi Networks Cloud Application Delivery Platform to allow enterprise customers to accelerate their cloud journey, while maximizing their end-user application 

The two-year-old company has been trying to build a name for itself and, to date, has signed partnerships with vendors like Chef, Cisco Systems, Intel, Mirantis, Nuage Networks, Puppet Labs, Red Hat and VMware. According to Avi Networks, its CADP offering seamlessly integrates with VMware, OpenStack and Cisco’s software-defined networking (SDN) ACI fabric environments.

The company so far has raised $33 million in funding, which is being led by Greylock Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Menlo Ventures.

In its announcement of CADP, the company quoted the recently-released Gartner report, “The Future of Application Delivery Is (Partly) Cloud,” noting: “Application traffic flows have become less deterministic, and infrastructure architects can no longer rely solely on centralized appliances to provide necessary application delivery and security services. New deployment models are emerging to help enterprises with this 

And it’s there that Avi Networks hopes to build its reputation.
