Friday's Last Word: Datical CEO Derek Hutson

​Derek joined Datical in 2015 bringing more than 15 years of leadership experience in enterprise software. Prior to Datical, Derek served as president of Hart InterCivic. During Derek’s tenure at Hart, the company successfully launched multiple new products in the US elections market and doubled its customer base. Prior to Hart, Derek served as SVP of worldwide sales for CoreTrace, where he led the company through eight quarters of rapid growth. Before CoreTrace, Derek held multiple executive positions at IBM, serving on the leadership team for IBM Software Group’s acquisition of Telelogic (TLOG.ST) and responsible for due diligence and integration of the acquired sales functions globally. Derek also led the successful integration of BuildForge after the 2006 acquisition by IBM. Prior to IBM, Derek served as VP of worldwide sales at BuildForge from its start-up phase through 12 consecutive quarters of growth and its acquisition by IBM. Under his leadership, BuildForge grew from no revenue to annual revenues in excess of 20 million. Prior to joining BuildForge, Derek held various sales management roles at BMC Software. 

Derek currently serves on the board of Hart InterCivic and Charity Dynamics. Other board or advisor positions have included CoreTrace (acquired by Lumension), Innography, StreamStep (acquired by BMC) and Phurnace (acquired by BMC).
