The process of moving complex workloads to Microsoft Azure can be streamlined  by using a purpose-built tool for performing server migrations. Workload migration tools allow you to test your Azure environment without disrupting users in production. They also minimize the risk of data loss by ensuring replicated data accurately reflects the source system.

Carbonite Migrate is designed to reduce the complexities that large migration projects present. It lets you test the target data without disrupting users in the production environment. When it’s time to cut over to the new service in Azure, all it takes is a few simple steps in the Azure Migrate console to redirect users to the new environment. Highly efficient, byte-level replication technology ensures the new environment contains recent changes to the source data. The migration process is easily managed within the console.

Advanced features include incremental backup and administrative controls for safely rolling back, testing and recovering, which further reduces the risk of a production outage during migration and when the new system goes live. For heavy workloads, the solution allows the granular selection of data, reducing the amount of data to be migrated. Log files are easily excluded, which accelerates migrations, conserves storage, reduces the impact on bandwidth and eliminates the need to manually delete log files later.

Carbonite Migrate is an ideal tool for performing SQL and Linux upgrades, which is important for any of your customers dealing with pending and future OS End of Service (EOS) events. Whether you favor upgrading in place or hosting in Azure–the two most likely options–Carbonite Migrate can help you ensure a smooth transition.

Carbonite is now integrated with Azure Migrate and can be accessed directly through its portal. When you create a migration project in the portal, you’ll have the option to select Carbonite Migrate as your migration tool. Once you create or log in to your Carbonite account, you can configure and initiate the migration process in a few easy steps. The solution gives you progress updates while the migration process is underway. Once the migration is complete, you can select the server in the Azure Migrate portal to view details about the migration.

Carbonite Migrate streamlines migrating workloads to Azure. Advanced discovery, automation and orchestration make the process more predictable and repeatable for when you want to move additional workloads to, or from, Microsoft Azure in the future.
