Seven Managed Services Blogs MSPmentor Didn’t Write, May 6
It was a busy week at the Kaseya Connect User Conference (Las Vegas), the Managed Print Services Conference (Orlando, Fla.) and HTG Peer Groups Spring Conference (Dallas). There were numerous managed services stories and news tips that we have yet to cover. In fact, here are seven managed services blogs and news leads for the week ending May 6, 2011.
7. Remember Him?: Google’s Jeff Ragusa spent a lot of time attending managed services conferences in 2009 and 2010. He spoke quite a bit about the Google Apps reseller program during some of those events. Keep an eye on Ragusa this week. He’ll be engaging channel partners during the Google I/O conference in San Francisco.
6. Keep an Open Mind: In an email, ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini assured partners and customers that the company would “continue to work with all MSP tools to create more and better integration. Our goal is to offer more choices, not less. Our APIs will always be open and available to all MSP tools. Here’s to the continued growth of the IT Nation!” His note involved the official announcement of ConnectWise Capital investing in Quosal, the quoting software for VARs and MSPs. Many MSPs cheered the ConnectWise-Quosal relationship, but users of a rival quoting tool — called QuoteWerks — want to make sure ConnectWise offers a level playing field.
5. Morning Praise: I had breakfast with a Long Island-based MSP on Saturday. He’s in the process of rolling out Level Platforms‘ Managed Workplace software. He likes the software… and but spent more time raving about Level Platforms’ partner support team.
4b. Something Is Brewing, Part B: I think Doyenz, the cloud-based disaster recovery specialist, is set to raise another round of venture funding.
3. Big Idea: What if you took the iPad, transitioned it to a 55-inch screen and mounted it on a conference room wall? Now, what if that really big touch screen could be tied to recurring revenues and managed services? Curious? If so keep an eye on InFocus.
2. Billion Dollar Opportunity: Last week I asked CEO Gerald Blackie some familiar questions and he gave some familiar answers: Yes, Kaseya can become a billion dollar company, no the company does not plan to pursue an IPO, and yes Kaseya is seeing growth in its SaaS platform — where user adoption has doubled in the past year or so. I’ll try to publish more thoughts from Blackie, President Mark Sutherland and Chief Marketing Officer Bob Davis later this week.
1. International Ambitions?: What if a really big distributor and a larger managed services software company took their Australia relationship and repeated it in North America? I suspect it may happen in June. Stay tuned.
