File Sharing On Premises to the Cloud: Next Big MSP Opportunity

By CloudBerry Lab Guest Blog 2

Thousands of MSPs are jumping into the cloud storage, backup and disaster recovery markets. Where will managed services providers head to next? I think the smart answer involves secure file sharing — from on-premises devices out to cloud storage systems. And once again, CloudBerry Lab stands ready to help accelerate this trend.

Our MSP partners already know about our cloud storage solutions — which allow partners to back up customer data to public clouds like Amazon Web Services, Windows Azure and more. A closely related effort involves CloudBerry Drive.

Think of it as an application to map a public cloud storage account as a network or USB drive. Then, your customer can access all the cloud-based data in a simple, logical way — as if it's on a USB flash, external or network drive.

With CloudBerry Drive, users can work with cloud-based files just like with files on a local disk:

  • Drag and drop files to the cloud and back;

  • Use cloud storage with any application installed on a computer; and

  • Share mapped cloud storage account across the network.

CloudBerry Drive can map over 20 different cloud storage services including Amazon S3, Windows Azure Storage, Google Cloud Storage, OpenStack, RackspaceCloud Files, DreamObjects and HP Cloud.

Also of note: We recently launched CloudBerry AD Bridge– which links Windows Active Directory users with Amazon IAM users. The result: Active Directory users gain native access to cloud storage.

In combination with CloudBerry Drive, CloudBerry AD Bridge provides every authenticated AD user with preconfigured access to Amazon S3 account mapped as a network or external drive. That can reduce admin burden and streamline cloud adoption for MSPs
