3 Ways MSPs Can Increase Reliability with Business Continuity

A reliable business continuity solution is crucial for today’s MSPs to succeed.

According to FEMA, as many as 60 percent of small businesses never recover after a disaster and are forced to close, highlighting the need not only for trustworthy backups but also for the ability to keep systems running. In many cases, IT failures exacerbate disasters such as power failures, flooding and security breaches. Managed service providers, or MSPs, can mitigate the risk of IT failure with infrastructure that protects critical business data for their customers in order to continue to operate.

If a backup fails, MSPs struggle to satisfy customers when it matters most. Best-in-class business continuity products empower MSPs with backup reliability and consistent restoration outcomes. When disaster strikes and systems go down, MSPs need to know that their backups are in good standing so they can be the hero for their customer. This lack of downtime provides end users with an edge when local competitors lack the ability to bounce back quickly.

A reliable business continuity solution is crucial for today’s MSPs to succeed. Below are three ways that the best solutions can make that happen:

  • Business Continuity vs. Backup: Business continuity is more than backup and recovery. Going beyond simply recovering data, business continuity saves businesses by keeping them online in the face of otherwise devastating issues such as ransomware, malware, natural disasters, network downtime and costly human errors. Most importantly, business continuity offers end users the ability to immediately get business systems back up and running.
  • Backup Verification and Instant Virtualization: Backup verification will scan the backups when they are taken to ensure they include all data, are free from ransomware and will result in successful restores. This gives MSPs and their customers confidence that they can stay in business when disaster strikes. When a system goes down, Instant Virtualization allows MSPs to continue operating the downed machine locally or from the cloud.
  • Restore Options for Every Scenario: Reliability isn’t just about having a good backup; It’s also about consistently getting end users back online. Because each disaster is different, MSPs need a solution to back up and recover virtually any system. The best solutions will offer multiple restore options because there is no one-size-fits-all solution for the issues that MSPs face everyday. Restore options to look for include everything from granular file restore—for recovering specific files–to bare metal restore—for restoring entire systems and minimizing unnecessary downtime.
