ConnectWise: Special Financing to New On-Premise Customers

Sometimes, it's easy to tell ConnectWise CEO Arnie Bellini and President David Bellini are certified public accountants. The latest tip-off: ConnectWise has introduced a specialize PSA software financing offer that delivers potential tax savings to new MSP and VAR customers who run the software on-premise. Here's the update.

For those who are new to PSA market, professional services automation software includes CRM, marketing, trouble ticket management, and other business capabilities for VARs and MSPs. According to an announcement today: ConnectWise has launched a holiday promotion for new customers that purchase its on-premise software and opt for monthly financing. ConnectWise will pay for the first two months, and users will still be eligible for tax savings under Section 179 of the IRS tax code. Section 179 allows businesses to deduct the full price of qualifying products purchased or financed during the tax year, according to the ConnectWise press release.

In a prepared statement, Arnie Bellini is quick to assert that you can't generate similar tax savings from cloud-only options "because applicable tax deductions only cover purchases of software, not hosted applications/software-as-a-service." Read between the lines and Bellini is making a bit of a jab at rival Autotask, which focuses purely on a SaaS model.

Still, Autotask has quietly worked with several RMM (remote monitoring and management) software companies to launch a freemium program for VARs and MSPs.
