Spanning CEO Jeff Erramouspe says data protection for Office 365 is next on the company's list.

Spanning Cloud Apps is following its recent hire of the company’s first-ever channel chief with two announcements regarding Salesforce.com (CRM) and Google (GOOG) Apps.

The Austin, Texas-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) backup company on Tuesday released an update to Spanning Backup for Salesforce and launched its Google Apps 100 Percent Restore Guarantee for the channel.

The update for Spanning Backup for Salesforce includes a new, on-page data restore for end users. They can compare and recover previous versions of Salesforce data objects, such as accounts, opportunities and contacts.

“This simple process is done without leaving Salesforce, requires no training for the user and is completed more quickly and more accurately than any other available data recovery methods,” Spanning CEO Jeff Erramouspe, who was appointed in November 2013, told Talkin’ Cloud in an interview.

Through its new Google Apps 100 Percent Restore Guarantee, the company guarantees the following:

“The company guarantees customers who use Spanning Backup for Google Apps to back up their data will be able to restore lost data back to its original state 100 percent of the time or they will receive ten times their money back for each failed restore operation for that user account.”

“We believe that fast, accurate and complete data restoration is the most critical part of our value proposition to our customers,” Erramouspe said. “What better way to demonstrate the confidence we have in our ability to live up to our brand promise than to provide this guarantee.”

He also noted that something is in the works for those customers looking for Microsoft (MSFT) Office 365 data protection: “We’re going to apply the same level of rigor to data protection for Office 365 and expect to have a product in the market before the end of the year.”

“Protecting software-as-a-service application data is not something you can do half-way, which is why Spanning takes an application-centric approach to building our backup and recovery solutions,” Erramouspe said.
