Report: Only 28% of SMBs Have Adopted Cloud Solutions
A new report reveals that small and medium-sized business (SMBs) leveraging cloud services are in the minority, but it also points to a changing trend.
FiberCloud, a cloud infrastructure provider, surveyed more than 400 business owners and decision makers in companies with between 50 to 500 employees, looking to learn more about cloud adoption.
The survey revealed that only 28 percent of SMBs have adopted cloud — but that’s only part of the story. Of those SMBs, the majority have plans to become more cloud-centric by putting additional data, applications and IT infrastructure in the cloud during the remaining seven months of 2014.
More than half of respondents indicated that a majority of their business will be in the cloud by the end of the year, with one more than 33 percent indicating that they’ll run a whopping 66 to 100 percent of their business in the cloud.
The study also noted that the majority of cloud adopters favor private clouds rather than public and hybrid environments.
