Nirvanix Appoints Former Zynga CIO as CEO

Cloud storage services provider Nirvanix recently appointed former Zynga CIO Debra Chrapaty as CEO. Chrapaty will also remain executive chairwoman of the company's board, an appointment made in November 2012. Her appointment as CEO will be effective in April.

Chrapaty previously worked as Zynga's CIO, where she oversaw the company's infrastructure design and technical and support operations. Before working at the gaming developer, Chrapaty worked as the senior vice president of Cisco Systems' (NASDAQ: CSCO) Collaboration Software Group, overseeing the design and development of Cisco’s collaboration services. She has also worked at Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) as a corporate vice president and was president and COO of E*TRADE Technologies.

Chrapaty said in an email that the company plans to leverage the growing cloud market by building on partner relationships, adding new services to its cloud offerings and augmenting the company's cloud infrastruture and software stack.

"While lots of companies are embracing the gains of jumping on the public cloud infrastructure, Fortune 1000 enterprises have a tougher set of security, compliance and business hurdles, which is why at Nirvanix we are focused on flexible deployment models in public, private and hybrid scenarios," she added.

Any changes to the company will not be immediate, she said.

"I am a big fan of inventorying all the hard work and success of a company before envisioning changes that might be made without proper insight," she explained. "Since I have been on the board for a while I know that the team is already hard at work on some key objectives and product enhancements. So the first 90 days for me are targeted at getting completely immersed in our people, products and process and build our 90- and 180-day plan."

Current Nirvanix CEO Dru Borden will remain part of the Nirvanix leadership team as senior vice president of Planning and Development and remain as a board member, the company said.
