LogMeIn AppGuru Tackles BYOA Discovery, Security and Management
LogMeIn (LOGM), a company best known for its remote access software, today released a new cloud application to help IT professionals discover, secure and manage employee-introduced apps.
IT professionals now can use LogMeIn’s AppGuru to gain visibility into employee use of hundreds of cloud apps, including Google (GOOG) Apps and Microsoft (MSFT) Office 365.
LogMeIn said AppGuru is designed to help IT professionals rein in the risks of bring-your-own-application (BYOA) policies while still allowing users to reap the rewards.
AppGuru’s features include:
- Active Directory sync
- Centralized management
- Cloud app activity monitoring
- Cloud app trending
- Cloud directory
- Company-wide app usage dashboard and snapshots
- License management
- Multi-account management
- Out-of-the-box app catalog
- Policy management
“Our goal with AppGuru is to give our IT customers complete visibility into and control over their environment in ways that embrace the inherent realities of employee-introduced technology,” LogMeIn CEO Michael Simon said in a prepared statement.
AppGuru can help companies protect their employees against security and data loss risks that are commonly associated with BYOA and “shadow IT,” according to LogMeIn.
“Specifically designed for IT professionals, AppGuru will change the way companies detect and secure employee-introduced applications and help IT professionals regain control of today’s consumerized IT environments,” LogMeIn Senior Director of Products John Purcell wrote in a blog post.
AppGuru pricing starts at $29 per managed user per year, LogMeIn said, and a free trial of the app is available for download here.
IT professionals also can learn more about BYOA during a Talkin’ Cloud webcast featuring LogMeIn tomorrow at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET. Register for the webcast here.
