Microsoft (MSFT) has scored another win for its cloud-based productivity suite Office 365, adding Johnson Controls as a customer.

Johnson Controls, a diversified global provider of technology and industrial products with operations in 150 countries, said that it evaluated various cloud solutions but chose Office 365 because it seemed to offer the “most reliable, cost-effective and scalable” tools, including the platform’s capability to provide real-time translation in many languages.

With account teams across the globe, real-time translation in various languages will help Johnson Controls employees work together with customers and partners for consistent service to hundreds of customer locations.

Johnson Controls Vice President and CIO Colin Boyd said in a prepared statement that the company selected Office 365 because it helps the company “effectively capitalize on our collaborative culture.”

“We’re using Office 365 to mitigate this risk, connecting our 300 production plants with engineering centers through real-time communications to drive quality and responsiveness for our customers,” he said.

In other cloud-related news, analytics software developer New Relic has joined the Google (GOOG) Cloud Platform Partner Program for Google Compute Engine.
