Garantia Data cofounder and CEO Ofer Bengal says Redis is one of the fastest growing databases in the NoSQL space
Garantia Data co-founder and CEO Ofer Bengal says Redis is one of the fastest growing databases in the NoSQL space.

Garantia Data has raised $9 million in a series A funding this week to assist with the growth and adoption of its Redis Cloud service. In addition to funding, the company announced it will pass on changing its name.

The round of funding was led by Bain Capital Ventures and Carmel Ventures, bringing Garantia Data’s total funding to $13 million.

“The current round of financing will enable us to further enhance Redis Cloud’s core capabilities in order to meet the unique use case that Redis offers for both developers and large IT organizations,” Garantia Data co-founder and CEO Ofer Bengal said in a prepared statement.

According to the company’s CEO in a blog post, the company  decided not to change its name to RedisDB: “We were about to change our company name to RedisDB and even acquired the domain redisdb.com for that purpose; however, respecting a request by Slavatore Sanfillipo, the Redis creator, we decided to stick to Garantia Data.”

“Redis is one of the fastest growing databases in the NoSQL space and we are continuing to see tremendous potential in the market,” Bengal said. “Being a significant contributor to open source Redis and at the same time serving our more than one thousand customers commercially, we know exactly how to adapt Redis to enterprise needs.”

The company will be at AWS re:Invent from November 12-15, 2013 in Las Vegas.
