Apps such as Dropbox remain among the most blacklisted by companies because of how easy it is for sensitive data to be moved out of the security of the enterprise. Looking to remedy these concerns by enabling sharing without compromising security, digital rights management provider Fasoo has unveiled cloud security solution. Called DigitalQuick, the solution is designed to add security to folders and files in Dropbox and other clouds. Here are the details.
DigitalQuick provides administrators and users with a one-click, drag-and-drop interface that enables protection and synchronization of data within a cloud and storage account or to any desktop files or folders. The idea is to assist users seeking consistent digital protection of sensitive desktop files or folders, while still enabling the sharing of those files via the cloud and storage providers.
DigitalQuick allows administrators to encrypt and share files, enabling assigned recipients to access and work within those files without requiring decryption. This helps limit potential leaks and security attacks through the cloud by making sure that shared data is made available only to the appropriate users. DigitalQuick’s online management functionality also enables users to monitor who accessed files, when and with what device.
The following features are included in the solution:
Protection: DigitalQuick lets users set each file or folder with permissions or restrictions such as read-only or edit mode. In edit mode, recipients can print or decrypt, as necessary, but they are not required to decrypt.
Dropbox or Desktop: DigitalQuick security can be applied directly to a Dropbox folder or to any desktop files or folders.
Visibility and Management: DigitalQuick monitors user activities, tracks when they log in and on what devices and ensures files are only accessible by intended recipients.
High Encryption Standards: DigitalQuick secures files with AES 256-bit encryption, and complies with FIPS 140-2 standards, which is the U.S. government computer security standard used to accredit cryptographic modules.
DigitalQuick is currently in beta release.
