CodeLathe has announced the immediate availability of its new file sync and share solution for managed services providers (MSPs).

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, the cloud-based software company on Thursday launched FileCloud Service Provider Edition, a solution that aims to enable MSPs to provide file sync and share, and mobile access to their small business and enterprise customers. The new product is self-hosted by services providers.

Key features of FileCloud SP Edition include multi-tenancy, custom branding, multi-administrator and FileCloud APIs. CodeLathe is offering three product levels to MSPs: Premium, Advanced and Basic.

“Our [product] is a software-only solution which MSPs can install in their own datacenter infrastructure,” said Madhan Kanagavel, CEO at CodeLathe. “Depending on customer requirements they can use a shared computing infrastructure or a dedicated setup for a particular customer.”

As of now, businesses can only get FileCloud from seven services providers from around the world: Mitol.co (United Kingdom), Moresi.com (Switzerland), MTF Cloud (Switzerland), Braathe Gruppen (Norway), Computerland (Belgium), 010 Cloud Computing (Israel) and Websdepot (Canada).

Kanagavel expects this list to grow as his company continues to make more connections with MSPs in the market, something CodeLathe will focus on going forward.

“We want to have the solution optimized for them before we spend money on marketing,” he said. “We will reach out to MSPs in the year 2015 and increase our marketing budget.”

Other file sync and share solutions in the market for MSPs aren’t any different from Dropbox and Box and are typically sold at a higher price point, Kanagavel said.

“There is no margin for MSPs and no incentive for customers to choose the MSP offerings over Dropbox or Box,” he said.

“We want to further expand the FileCloud platform by adding policy based endpoint backup and toxic data scanning before file sharing,” he said. “This will help our service provider partners to have a one solution for their file sharing, sync and backup needs and also help them to target regulated industry verticals like healthcare and finance.”

Kanagavel said CloudLathe will be focusing on “a lot” in 2015, including text search; protected health information (PHI); PCI data scanner; integrations with Office 365, Google Drive, Sharepoint and Salesforce; and policy-based endpoint backup.

“On the marketing side, we want to replicate the success we are experiencing in European markets in United States,” he said.
