Cloud Boosts Huawei’s 2014 Revenue
Those in the know are quite aware that cloud computing is having a significant impact on revenue for a variety of vendors, from the new to the old. That also seems to be the case with Huawei, the Chinese company mostly known as a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment. But recently, Huawei has been focusing more on cloud computing, in addition to its hardware.
According to the vendor, cloud computing technology advances and a stronger demand for smart devices helped to improve its 2014 revenue. The company noted a 15 percent revenue increase that was driven by cloud and smart devices. That puts Huawei’s 2014 revenue at a total of $46 billion.
To be fair, much of that increase had to do with Huawei’s success in the smart devices market, but cloud has been of increasing importance to the vendor.
As noted in a Tech2 article, Huawei’s projections indicated that it would achieve sustainable growth in 2014. It had targeted annual growth of about 10 percent annually, and it looks like it not only achieved that goal but exceeded it. Based on its expectations, Huawei as a whole should top $70 billion in annual revenue by 2018.

It looks like the biggest win out of Huawei should actually go to its business unit focusing on smart devices, but cloud is also one of the reasons Huawei beat estimates for 2014.
It’s likely fair to say much of that revenue growth came about within the Chinese market, but as Huawei grows, it could improve its cloud revenue through international markets, as well.
