Cisco Systems (CSCO) has joined a $12 million round of Series B funding for RiverMeadow Software, a developer of automated server migration solutions developed specifically for carrier and service provider clouds.

According to RiverMeadow, Cisco, along with Violin Memory and others, participated in this round of funding to fuel the company’s growth, driving more deployments of the RiverMeadow Cloud Migration Software as a Service (SaaS) into the market.

RiverMeadow CEO Mark Shirman said in his prepared statement that this round of funding is a significant milestone for RiverMeadow.

“The RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS has already gained tremendous traction and acceptance with many of the world’s largest cloud infrastructure manufacturers and service providers,” he said. “This latest funding round will allow us to continue to scale the company for future growth by expanding our engineering team and supporting our OEM’s in meeting the growing market demands for cloud migration.”

RiverMeadow recently announced free server migrations into VMware vCloud Hybrid Service, using the RiverMeadow Cloud Migration SaaS portal, at VMworld 2013.

Back in July 2013, the company launched the 2.0 version of its Cloud Migration SaaS.
