Backup and Disaster Recovery Firms Offer Free Services in Wake of Hurricane Matthew

As Hurricane Matthew hits Florida, leaving more than 500,000 people without power on Friday, some companies have launched offers designed to help impacted businesses backup their data for free.

StorageCraft, a Utah-based backup and disaster recovery provider, is offering business and non-profit organizations in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina free backup with its StorageCraft ShadowProtect SPX software. Organizations that back up data using the software by Oct. 14 will be able to recover the data free of charge.

Axcient is offering its Fusion disaster recovery and data protection services to businesses that could be impacted by Hurricane Matthew. The complimentary, no-commitment offer is valid for up to 30 days or until the impacted business is stabilized, whichever is longer, Axcient CEO Justin Moore said. The company said that its cloud-based backup can be up and running in less than 15 minutes.
