World Wide Technology’s Matt Horner

World Wide Technology (WWT) has committed $3 million to focus on driving digital inclusion. Their goal is to help create a more diverse and equitable workforce by 2023. Matt Horner (pictured above), WWT’s executive vice president of global enterprise sales, took to the stage at last weekend’s Global Citizen Live event to share the news with event attendees.

Global Citizen Live is part of Global Citizen’s 2021 global campaign, a Recovery Plan for the World. The Plan’s five key objectives are ending COVID-19 for all, ending the hunger crisis, resuming learning for all, protecting the planet and advancing equity for all.

The Global Citizen Live event began at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Sat., Sept. 25, and ran for 24 hours. The event featured performances and appearances from 15 stages on six continents. Horner appeared on the state in New York.

“The mission of World Wide Technology is to be a great place to work for all,” Horner SAID. “And together with Global Citizen, the world can be a great place to live for all.”

“Many years from now, it will be easy for future generations to look back on this point in history and see great injustice and extreme divisiveness. Is that the legacy we want to leave? Or we can make history by accelerating meaningful advancement of equity and inclusion, working tirelessly to protect our planet and truly defeating poverty.”

“It’s up to all of us to be positive change makers, to leave a world behind better than what we found. And in that spirit, and on behalf of World Wide Technology, I’m excited to announce a continued $3 million financial commitment, focused on driving inclusion in the economy and creating a more diverse and equitable workforce by 2023. Together let’s make a new world happen.”

In announcing WWT’s inclusion on the list, TIME cited the company’s efforts in facilitating the massive 2020 transition of employees to working from home. “Teaming up with manufacturers such as Cisco and Dell, the technology services behemoth helps a broad range of organizations — including major hospitals and the Department of Defense — select and install computer systems and other digital infrastructure.”
